About the DJ Spinz 808
The DJ Spinz 808 is a single 808 bass sample. This is what you hear in the preview above:
- Key: C (C1, about 33 Hz). Play it on any C in your piano roll and it sounds at its natural pitch.
- Tail: long. It’s still ringing when the 1.7 second preview ends.
- Pitch: steady. After the first fifth of a second it holds one note, so it slides cleanly from note to note.
- Sound: lightly saturated rather than a pure sine. The extra harmonics help you hear it on laptop and phone speakers, which can’t play 33 Hz. Check the low end on headphones or monitors.
- Best for: drill and trap beats with long, held 808 notes and slides.

- Drag the file into FL Studio’s Channel Rack. It loads into a Sampler channel.
- Open the piano roll for that channel and write your bassline. Because the 808 is in C, every C plays it in tune, and other notes follow your chords.
In Ableton Live, Logic Pro or any other DAW, load it into a sampler (Simpler in Ableton, Quick Sampler in Logic) and play it from a MIDI track. For patterns and slides, read our ultimate guide to 808s.
