Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information WavGrind collects when you visit wavgrind.com, buy from us, use our plugins or contact us, what we do with it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Who we are
WavGrind sells audio plugins, presets and sounds for music producers at wavgrind.com. WavGrind is run by Luke Alderson, a sole trader in New South Wales, Australia (ABN 12 549 937 305), who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. "We" and "us" in this policy mean WavGrind.

What we collect
When you buy something: your name, email address, billing address, phone number (if you give it), what you bought, the price and any discount code, and your IP address. Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.
When you get a plugin licence: the licence code sent with your order, and the email address you use to redeem it.
When you activate a plugin: see "Plugin licences" below.
When you contact us: your name, email address and anything you put in your message or attachments.
When you sign up for emails or browser notifications: your email address, or a notification token for your browser. Only if you choose to.
When you browse the site: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, where you came from, and what you click or add to your cart. Some of this is collected with cookies and similar technology (see "Cookies and advertising" below).
How we use it
- To process your order, take payment and send you your downloads and licence code.
- To activate and check your plugin licence.
- To give you support, updates and refunds.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, chargebacks and payment disputes.
- To run and improve the website and our products.
- To send you marketing emails or notifications, if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To measure and improve our ads (see "Cookies and advertising").
- To keep records we're required to keep by law, such as tax records.
If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (orders, delivery, licences, support), our legitimate interests (running and securing the store, preventing fraud, improving our products), your consent (marketing, notifications and advertising cookies, which you can withdraw at any time) and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
Plugin licences
Our plugins use licence activation, run by our licensing service, Moonbase. When you redeem your licence code and activate a plugin, the plugin sends your licence details and a computer ID (an identifier made from your computer's hardware, plus basic details such as its name and operating system) so we can check that the licence is genuine and keep track of how many computers it's activated on. After that, the plugin checks the licence about once a day while it's open and online.
Our plugins don't collect or send anything about your music, audio or projects.
Recent purchases
Some product pages show recent orders, for example "Someone in Atlanta, US got WavGrind Mix Enhancer". We only show the city and country from the billing address, never your name, email address or anything else. If you'd rather your order isn't shown, email support@wavgrind.com.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information for money. We share it only with the services that help us run the store:
- Shopify: our store, checkout and order records, and Shopify Flow, which automates tasks such as the recent-purchases notice.
- Payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal), and where needed banks and card networks: to take payments, issue refunds and handle disputes.
- Easy Digital Products (EDP): sends your downloads and licence code by email.
- Moonbase: plugin licence redemption and activation.
- PushOwl: browser notifications, only if you allow them.
- Bold Upsell and One Click Upsell: show related offers before and after checkout.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok, through the WeTracked app: advertising pixels that tell us which ads lead to visits and sales, and help us show ads to people who might be interested.
- Shogun and other Shopify apps we use to build and run store pages, which may collect visit statistics.
- ClickFunnels: hosts some older WavGrind pages at web.wavgrind.com. If you enter your email address in a form there, ClickFunnels stores it and we use it only for what you signed up for.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: some pages load fonts and code from them, so they receive your IP address.
- Professional advisers, and authorities or courts when the law requires it, or to protect our rights.
- A buyer or successor, if our business is ever sold or transferred.
Each of these services handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Payments, refunds and fraud prevention
We may use and share personal information, transaction data and communications to process payments, issue refunds, prevent fraud and respond to disputes or chargebacks. This may include sharing relevant information with payment processors, banks, card networks, fraud prevention services, and legal or regulatory authorities when required to complete transactions, resolve disputes or comply with legal obligations.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We and the services above use them to keep your cart and checkout working, remember your choices, understand how the site is used and measure our ads. Advertising pixels from Meta and TikTok can link your visit to your accounts with them.
Under some US state laws, using advertising pixels counts as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. To opt out, use the Your privacy choices link at checkout or at the bottom of our store. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting advertising cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage ads in your Meta and TikTok settings.
How long we keep it
- Orders and payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually 5 to 7 years.
- Licence records: for as long as your licence exists, so you can re-download and re-activate your plugins.
- Support emails: up to 3 years after our last contact.
- Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe.
Where it's stored
Our services store and process information in the United States, Canada, Europe and other countries. Where we transfer information out of the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on our providers' legal safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
We use reputable services with strong security, and we limit who can access your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please contact us right away if you think something is wrong.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct it,
- delete it (we may need to keep some records, such as orders, for legal reasons),
- stop or limit using it, or stop using it for marketing,
- send it to you or another company in a usable format,
- not sell or share it for advertising.
Email support@wavgrind.com from the address you used to buy. It's free, we'll reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm who you are. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, for example in the EU or UK, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in Australia.
Children
Our store is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Other websites
Our pages may link to other websites and social media. Their own privacy policies apply there, not this one.
Changes
We may update this policy as our store or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
